LAST UPDATE 4/25/96

This informational APAR explains how to install and set up
the interactive DOS file transfer programs for use with
Client Access for Windows 3.1. These programs provide an
alternative to the Rumba file transfer program.
.
Note: At the time this was written these programs do not
work with the Netsoft router provided with Netware for SAA
because that router does not provide a DOS redirector
interface which makes the Windows router accessible to DOS
programs run under Windows.
.
Note: Do not use the files from QIWSFL2 as those require
the DOS extender interface be loaded in memory and it will
not be loaded when you are using the Windows client.
.
The programs are located the in folder for Client Access/400
DOS: QIWSFLR. You will need to copy the files listed below
from your shared folder drive to the PC's Client Access for
Windows 3.1 directory, typically C: CAWIN. You can assign a
drive to (drive): QDLS QIWSFLR or assign the drive to the
root directory and change directories to QDLS QIWSFLR.
Copy the following files from QIWSFLR to CAWIN:
RTOPC.EXE
RFROMPC.EXE
TFR.EXE
STF.EXE
.
Change directories on both drives the MRInnnn
subdirectories, where nnnn is the Coded Character Set ID for
the language that you are using (2924 for US English). Copy
the following files from the AS/400's QDLS QIWSFLR MRInnnn
directory to the CAWIN MRInnnn directory on your PC.
RTOPC.MR0
RTOPC.HLP
RFROMPC.MR0
RFROMPC.HLP
ERTFR.HLP
STF.MR0
TFR.MR0
.
The setup for these programs consists of creating a PIF file
using the Windows PIF editor (PIFEDIT.EXE). Start the PIF
Editor and use the following information:
.
Program Filename: (drive): CAWIN RTOPC.EXE
Window Title: AS/400 To PC File Transfer
Optional Parameters: /Z
Start-up Directory: (drive): CAWIN
Display Usage: Windowed
Execution: Background
.
You may use the defaults for all other settings. Save this
file in the CAWIN directory as RTOPC.PIF.
.
For file transfers from the PC to the AS/400 again use the
PIF editor to create a new PIF file and substitute the
following for two of the settings used above.
.
Program Filename: (drive): CAWIN RFROMPC.EXE
Window Title: PC To AS/400 File Transfer
.
Save this file as RFROMPC.PIF in your Client Access
directory.
.
To add icons to your Client Access/400 for Windows program
group, first select the Client Access/400 for Windows
program group in Program Manager. From Program Manager's
menu select the File menu and choose New. Select the option
for Program Item and press the OK button. In the Program
Item Properties dialog enter the following information:
.
Description: AS/400 To PC File Transfer
Command Line: (drive): CAWIN RTOPC.PIF
Working Directory: (drive): CAWIN
.
You may choose an icon other than the default by pressing
the Change Icon button. In the Change Icon dialog type in
the File Name: (drive): CAWIN PCSICON.DLL and hit enter.
This Dynamic Link Library contains the common icons for the
Client Access programs. Once you have selected an icon for
file transfer, press OK in the Change Icon dialog and press
OK in the Program Item Properties dialog.
.
Use the same technique as above to create an icon for the PC
to AS/400 file transfer program. Substitute "PC To AS/400
File Transfer" for the Description and
(drive): CAWIN RFROMPC.PIF for the Command Line entries.
.
Note that if you are using a Windows shell program other
than the default PROGMAN.EXE, the techniques used above for
adding an icon you your Window shell program will probably
be different. Consult the on-line help or other OEM
documentation for your windows shell program for the
instructions on how to add programs.
.
The documentation on how to use these programs is in part 4
of the Client Access/400 for DOS User's Guide. For detailed
information on file transfer, consult the Client Access/400
for DOS and OS/2 Technical Reference Guide.
